Whispers pilot
What is Whispers?
Whispers helps you turn meetings around.
Get instant meeting notes, sharper thinking, and stronger collaboration.
It is the only meeting tool that:
- Works in real-life meetings as well as virtual meetings;
- Helps you intervene in meetings, not just document them;
- Builds group performance, through illuminating analytic blindspots and building on meeting participants’ strengths.
What can I get from the pilot version?
Use it to capture any meeting and transform the quality of your meetings.
You’ve been selected because:
- you’re experienced with meetings,
- you’re enthusiastic about this idea,
- and you’re curious about the value it can add to your meetings.
In return, please tell us how it was for you! What did you like? How can it be improved?
What happens in the pilot?
We’ll start on a date agreed between us, and the pilot will last a week.
During the pilot period:
- Please use Whispers in as many meetings as possible—but at least three.
(These meetings can be informal or formal…large or small…virtual or in-person—up to you!)
After the pilot period:
- We’ll check back in, for your feedback. We’ll book a call (probably 30 minutes) to hear your thoughts.
- All meeting summaries from the pilot are yours to keep.
- If you’d like to continue using Whispers, it will be improved with your feedback.
How does it work?
Overview.
Shows your meeting at-a-glance.Highlights key insights from three detailed screens, to give you a dashboard on your meeting.
Click on any of the three areas to jump to the detailed screen for more detail.
1. Instant Minutes.
Information from the meeting is automatically organised into a maximum of five topics.Under each topic are the main points communicated, the main proposals, concerns, and decisions.
Use this screen to help you keep track of the meeting, structure content, & spot gaps.
2. Sharper Thinking.
Whispers analyses the ingredients for balanced discussion, strong arguments, and clear decisions. It is based on the science of collaboration and performance, and aspires to help your group achieve collective intelligence.
Use this screen to generate ideas on how to improve the discussion and make sharper decisions.
3. Group Cohesion.
Tracks the group mood and suggests how to improve collaboration and engagement.Where possible, it identifies individual speakers: their personalities, their emotions, their desires—and provides tips on how to increase engagement.
Use this screen to manage strong personalities, attend to emotions, and bring a human lens to your discussion.
What do I need for the pilot to work?
If you have at least two people in any discussion, Whispers aims to add value.
In this beta version, Whispers listens through the microphone. So the full meeting needs to be listenable through the microphone (your voice, plus the other participants too). [Whispers doesn’t work if you use headphones: it can’t hear the meeting.]
For the same reason, Whispers can’t hear unless it’s on a different device from your meeting. So:
- If your meeting is on a computer or in real-life, open Whispers on your phone.
- If your meeting’s on your phone [speaker only], open Whispers on your computer.
Please be patient, but take a note of problems so that we can learn about them.
What happens to data from the meetings?
A: No audio recordings are retained. Audio data from the meeting is transcribed, then is deleted immediately. Whispers specifically chooses to use a transcription service that encrypts the audio file in transit, and deletes the audio file as soon as the transcription has completed. (More information available here: https://www.assemblyai.com/docs/concepts/faq).
A: The transcript is deleted by the transcription service as soon as it is sent to Whispers. Whispers then processes the transcript into the meeting summaries and analyses that you see on your screen, via a Large Language Model (LLM). The Whispers database is encrypted at rest, and HTTPS / SSL encryption is used to securely transfer between the Whispers database, the LLM, and your phone. The provider of the LLM may retain the transcript securely for up to 30 days, then will delete it. (More information available here: https://support.anthropic.com/en/articles/7996866-how-long-do-you-store-personal-data ). None of the audio data or transcripts are used to train AI models, nor are passed to any third parties.
A: Currently, audio data and language analysis are both performed by US-based companies, using servers located predominantly in the US (full list here). Both providers of language processing used by Whispers (AssemblyAI and Anthropic Claude) are compliant with SOC 2 Type 1 and Type 2 industry standards, which rigorously control the way that data is encrypted, accessed, and protected. We have specifically researched and chosen AI providers that adhere to best practices, as outlined here.
A: The meeting is not recorded: no recordings of the meeting are retained. A temporary recording is used only to create the analysis of the meeting. However, we recommend as a best practice that you inform other meeting participants that you are using a new tool to help summarize the meeting. You can mention to participants that a temporary transcript is being made of the meeting, and that a summary of the discussion is produced. For transparency, you may offer to share the summary of the discussion with them.
A: Yes, all data from meetings is encrypted at rest and in transit. Your meetings data cannot be seen by other users, unless they know your email address. Whispers (through its parent company, Human Meetings Ltd) is registered with the UK Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO). We are working on becoming GDPR compliant.
